Honesty when there’s money and reputation on the line

I asked the server expectantly, “how is the XYZ appetizer?”

I could tell by the look on his face it was a brief moment of decision – tell the truth or make a sale.

“I had it and I wasn’t impressed. I wouldn’t recommend it.”

I went on to buy another appetizer if for no other reason than to reward his honesty.
