You remember the story of The Good Samaritan, right? Someone is beaten and left for dead on the side of the road, a priest and a Levite walk by as if he’s not there. A Samaritan sees him, puts him on his horse, takes him to an inn and pays for food, lodging and medical care until he’s well.
There are a lot of great aspects to this story, but the one that intrigues me now is that the Samaritan HAD enough resources to be generous. He earned it, he saved it and he was generous. It’s hard to be super generous when we don’t have excess.
This is true for money and qualities. I can’t give confidence if I’m barely functioning on what I’ve got. I can’t give grace to others if I don’t allow it for myself. I can’t extend belief if I don’t have any of my own.
Be a person who can be generous.
A friend of ours from NY has this blog that I follow. She just has different quick thoughts that get posted daily. Anyways this post made me think of y’all and how generous you and Uncle Woody are. Y’all help a lot of people, including me. I want to be like y’all when I grow up! 😉 And whatever the Lord provides me with, I want to be generous with it, whether it be time, money, love, acts of kindness, or abilities/talents. Anyways, just a thought! Hope your party is going well!
