If someone begins to pull away from our hug, we’re typically obliged and release them from the hug. That’s the acceptable thing to do.
I was hugging my autistic uncle goodbye today. He doesn’t care as much about social norms and when I went to release him from the hug (obviously being the first one), he wasn’t ready to let go.
He kept hugging me. No words. No back pat. Just a solid hold of love.
Yeah, why let go of someone when we aren’t ready to let go?
