Trampoline heart

Sometimes we need to let our hearts be like a trampoline – let people bounce the full weight of their thoughts and opinions on us – and just as heartily as they come in, send them back out…Lovingly let them come in and when the people depart, let their comments depart too.

When did we start thinking we could absorb and internalize everyone’s emotional baggage, manage it and manage our own too?

Learn quickly, it hurts less that way

At this stage in my life, I go from one sharp learning curve to another. I don’t even know what it feels like to spend a whole day doing things I already know how to do.

Capacity.

It’s downright uncomfortable to stretch our capacity, but isn’t that how we ever learned or achieved anything new? Crawling, walking, drinking from a glass, riding a bike…and on and on. Then at a certain point in time as we got older we just stopped liking the idea of being uncomfortable, we stopped trying new things. And…we stopped growing.

So, if you’re like me and it scares you to try something new, and it’s really uncomfortable to stretch your capacity, learn as quickly as possible. Even if it hurts the whole way, at least it won’t last forever.
